Step 1 - Join the Aro Android Beta - Click Here
Step 2 - Once you have joined the Beta you can download the app here
Step 3 - Install the app and activate your account
- If Someone in Your Household Previously Activated your Aro Account
- You will be prompted to enter an activation code during the installation process. A member of your family with the Aro app on their phone can share your Household Invite Code. The code can be found by selecting Groups -> tapping on your Household -> selecting the gear icon in the top right -> tapping "Invite Member". The email you received with information about this beta also included that activation code.
- If Your Household Has Not Activated Your Account Yet
- If you activate your account using the email address you used to purchase, your account will auto-activate. If you use a different email address, you will be prompted to enter an activation code. You received an email immediately after purchase with your activation code, and the email you received with information about this beta also included that activation code.
Just like the iPhone app, the Android app uses location and Bluetooth to detect your proximity to the Aro smart device and ensure a consistent connection. Please note - your location data is private and never leaves your device. During installation - please select (1) precise, (2) while using the app, and (3) allow all the time when prompted during onboarding. Finally, allow (5) Bluetooth device & location detection.
Step 4 - Follow the in-app guide and start your first session
Your phone will connect to the box automatically when it's placed inside. No need for it to be charging or for the app to be open. But, for this first session, keep the app open and on the screen when placing your phone inside the box. You will see a "Session in Progress" message confirming your phone is connected.
FAQs
What is the Android Beta?
Aro is inviting a select group of early customers to start using the Android app prior to the official launch. The app is still in development and your feedback will help us test and optimize it across a variety of Android devices and use cases.
Where should I report feedback or issues?
Email your questions, feedback, and issues to android@goaro.com.
Are there any differences between Android and iPhone?
No. The Android app has the same features and functionality as the iPhone application.
Will my current Aro home device work with both iPhones and Androids at the same time?
Yes. Both versions of the app are compatible with the current Aro hardware and can connect to the device at the same time.
How can I get Android charging cables for my Aro Home device?
Email us at android@goaro.com and let us know the address to ship to and the quantity needed. The white tray covering the current cables pops out of the box if you pull up on it. Under that tray is where the cables plug in. You can remove the current iPhone cables and swap them with USB-C cables for your Android device. That's all there is to it.
What permissions does the Android app require to connect to the Home device?
Just like the iPhone app, the Android app uses location and Bluetooth to detect your proximity to the Aro smart device and ensure a consistent connection. Please note - your location data is private and never leaves your device. During installation - please select (1) precise, (2) while using the app, and (3) allow all the time when prompted during onboarding. Finally, allow (5) Bluetooth device & location detection.
How does the device connect to my phone?
The Home device connects to the app using Bluetooth, but without a complicated pairing process. The device automatically detects when your phone is placed inside the box. No pairing necessary.
Will I still get calls, texts, and notifications while my phone is in Aro?
Yes. Aro does not disable any of your phone's functionality. You will still hear it ring or vibrate. We like to say your phone is out of sight but not out of service.
